UK Gets 100 more Boxer

Rheinmetall announced that the British Government, represented by the intergovernmental Organization for Joint Armament Cooperation OCCAR, and ARTEC, a Rheinmetall and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) consortium, have signed a contract extension to supply the British Army with an additional 100 BOXER armoured vehicles.

The contract covers three previously ordered vehicle variants: the Command Vehicle (CV), the Infantry Carrier Vehicle (ICV), and the Field Ambulance. The United Kingdom is exercising an option under the contract for the Mechanised Infantry Vehicle (MIV) project signed in 2019. The project includes 523 BOXER vehicles in various configurations. The vehicles will be delivered to the United Kingdom by ARTEC through OCCAR. The majority of BOXER manufacturing will take place in the United Kingdom.

Series production is currently underway in Germany. Most of the BOXER vehicles on order will be produced in British factories of Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land (RBSL) and KMW subsidiary WFEL. The additional ordered vehicles will also be produced in both the UK and Germany. The Boxer is an 8x8 wheeled armoured vehicle. Its modular architecture enables more variants than any other vehicle system. Australia and four NATO countries have ordered 1,500 vehicles in twenty different versions: Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. Australia has already taken delivery of the first shipment of 25 Boxer vehicles.
