MKE Delivers First Electric APC Batch to Land Forces turdef

MKE has delivered the first batch of three E-ZPT armoured personnel carriers (APCs) to the Turkish Land Forces Command.

The E-ZPT was developed by modernising the M113 series armoured personnel carrier with an electric drive system. The vehicle can operate for 150 kilometres on battery power and up to 650 kilometres with support from a range-extender generator. Its battery can be charged from 20 per cent to 80 per cent in 1.5 hours.

The vehicle completed qualification tests simulating operational conditions. These included 3,000 kilometres of endurance trials, covering 1,600 kilometres off-road, 800 kilometres on asphalt and 600 kilometres on stabilised surfaces.

The E-ZPT was also tested on 60 per cent gradients, 30 per cent side slopes and trench-crossing scenarios, as well as under hot and cold weather conditions.

The vehicle can carry seven personnel, including the driver, commander, gunner and four additional crew members. It has a combat weight of around 15 tonnes and a payload capacity of 2.5 tonnes.

The electric drive system reduces acoustic and thermal signatures compared with conventional powertrains. This can improve the platform’s suitability for reconnaissance, surveillance and silent movement tasks.

The platform is compatible with various mission payloads and is fitted with a 12.7 mm remote-controlled weapon station.
