Ukraine-based VATAG shared a test video of its 8x8 UGV between the medium and heavy classes with two tons of payload capacity and high off-road speed.
VATAG aims to take the next step in Ukraine’s UGV line with its larger and more mobile 8x8 UGV, which stands between the affordable but slow medium and the costly but high-performing heavy classes.
The UGV, as shared by VATAG, can reach an off-road speed of 42 km/h and carry up to two tonnes of payload. The main weapon in the fire support role was previously shown as a 25 mm dual-feed RCWS, apparently using an M242 chain gun or KBA gas-operated autocannon.
Ukraine has been utilising various locally-produced and foreign-supplied UGVs to perform tasks like fire support, logistics, MEDEVAC, and minelaying.
VATAG’s 8x8 UGV with two tons of payload capacity will present a significant leap for logistics support as well as firepower with the 25 mm RCWS that can take on more than infantry or unarmored vehicles.
