The list of the latest assistance includes 37 units of Cougar Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) and 120 4X4 AM General Humvee tactical vehicles.
The Cougar was developed to meet new, safer combat vehicles for US troops deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq. The Force Protection Company developed the vehicle, which is now part of General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS).
The Cougar MRAP is available in two main versions; the 4X4 and 6X6. Both vehicles have three crews, while the 6X6 can carry six armed soldiers. Both Cougar versions can be fitted with an open-top turret with 360-degree armour plates that protect against small arms fire. The turret can be armed with a single 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine gun operated directly by a gunner.
