In December 2002, the Polish Ministry of Defence signed a contract to buy 690 AMV 8X8 vehicles from Patria, Finland, to be produced in Poland. In Poland the AMV 8X8 was renamed Rosomak 8X8 Kołowy Transporter Opancerzony (KTO). The KTO is produced in two main variants: the APC (Armoured Personnel Carrier) and IFV (Infantry Combat Vehicle).
The Rosomak 8X8 is powered by a Scania DI 12 diesel engine developing 543 hp. The maximum speed is 100 km/hour, with a maximum cruising range of up to 800 km.
The ACV version has an Oto Melara Hitfist-30P gun turret, a 30mm ATK Mk44 chain gun, and a 7.62mm NATO UKM-2000C coaxial Machine Gun. It has a thermal sight and stabilisation to the cannon for accurate firing on the move.
