Norway Donates Eight Leopard 2A4NO MBTs to Ukraine

The Norwegian government announced on 14 February 2023 that it will donate eight main battle tanks (MBTs) and up to four armoured recovery or armoured engineering vehicles (ARVs/AEVs) to Ukraine, as well as funds for ammunition and spare parts.

The tanks will be drawn from the Norwegian Army's current Leopard 2A4NO MBT inventory. The needs of Ukraine will determine the exact type of ARVs/AEVs.Norway announced on 3 February 2023 that it would order 54 new Leopard 2A7 MBTs from Germany's Krauss-Maffei Wegmann to upgrade its MBT force, with an option for an additional 18 tanks to start to be delivered by 2026.
