More Leopard Tanks to the Czech Army

Germany will provide more Leopard 2A4 tanks to the country. Development was announced by Rheinmetall, one of the leading German defence industry companies. According to a media release, Leopard 2A4 tanks will be delivered to Czechia in line with the “Ringtausch” equipment exchange program. Czech Army will also take delivery of the Buffalo armoured recovery vehicle. It is announced that the German Ministry of Defence and Czech counterparts inked necessary agreements. The first vehicle is expected to be sent to the final user in December 2022. Deliveries are planned to be completed by the end of 2023.

It is known that the NATO states, which have Soviet-era equipment and military systems, provide them to Ukraine. These systems are replaced by readily available Western hardware in exchange. Czechia delivered many tanks and other heavy military equipment. The USA also provided M1 Abrams tanks in exchange for old T-72 tanks. Czech Army also has Leopard 2A5 and Leopard 2PL tanks in inventory.
