Estonia To Pick a Turkish Manufacturer

According to the exclusive news of the European Security and Defence publication, the Estonian Centre for Defence Investment (ECDI) opened a tender to modernise the Estonian Army with 4X4 armoured vehicles. France, Finland, Israel, Spain and Türkiye showed interest in the tender, but only Turkish ones were shortlisted. Otokar’s Cobra, BMC’s Amazon, and Nurol Makina’s two vehicles, NMS and Ejder Yalçın remained on the shortlist. ECDI is trying to pick one Turkish vehicle now.
Estonian Army tested the vehicles at a base in the Tapa region of northern Estonia. The vehicle’s abilities, such as water passage and slope climbing, were tested. The winner will be determined at the end of next month. Estonian Land Forces’ 1st and 2nd Brigades will start receiving the armoured vehicles in about two years. ECDI will acquire 200 vehicles in total in 4X4 and 6X6 formations. Turkish vehicles are competing in the 4x4 class.
