NSM Expands its Market

Naval Strike Missile (NSM) is expanding its share in the international market. The Netherlands selected NSM as well after the United Kingdom. Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace AS announced the information. 

The company has reached an agreement with the Netherlands Ministry of Defence for the acquisition of NSM systems. The missile is planned to arm air defence and command the frigate fleet of the Royal Netherlands Navy.Eirik Lie, the President of Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace, said, “Kongsberg is very proud to have been selected by the Netherlands Ministry of Defence to provide the NSM to the Royal Netherlands Navy (RNLN) Air Defence & Command Frigates. This is another great achievement for the NSM program, and we are very pleased to welcome the RNLN as a member of the NSM User Group” about procurement. There is no detailed information about the agreement.NSM Expands its MarketThe Royal Netherlands Navy selected the missile after the Royal Navy. The system is designed to meet next-generation battlefield requirements and is suitable for fifth-generation combat infrastructure. The NSM can engage both surface and land targets under complex conditions.The Dutch Navy’s LC frigates of the De Zeven Provinciën class will be equipped from 2025 with NMS to replace the Harpoon anti-ship missiles currently in service.
