Kazakhstan Supports China on Taiwan Issue
Kazakhstan supports the “one China” principle that China pursues. Intelligence reports suggest that China may launch an attack on Taiwan in March.

The Ministry’s press service released a commentary on the results of the presidential elections in Taiwan. The Ministry declared, “In connection with the elections held in Taiwan, the Republic of Kazakhstan reiterates its strong support for the “one China” principle and affirms that the government of the People’s Republic of China is the only legitimate government representing all of China, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory. We support the efforts of the government of the People’s Republic of China to achieve the country’s peaceful reunification.”

It was previously reported that the candidate from the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), Lai Qingde, won the presidential elections in Taiwan. The presidential and parliamentary elections were also held on the same day. The DDP pursues a pro-U.S. policy.
