ASELSAN Chairman of the Board Haluk Görgün stated that Turkiye’s air defence systems are being developed and said, “We do not need the s-300, s-400s.” Görgün, who made a statement to the Milliyet newspaper at ASELSAN Gölbaşı facilities, said, “We are making air defence systems. We don’t need S-300, S-400. We eliminate the need for them. This is our duty,” he said.
Turkiye, one of the largest armies in NATO, signed a contract in 2017 to purchase Russia’s S-400 air defence system. It was announced that the total cost was 2.5 billion dollars.
