Demir; Altay MBT will have an exclusive power pack
President of Defence Industries Professor İsmail Demir stated that Altay Main Battle Tank (MBT) engine tests continue. Stating that the engine from the Republic of Korea (ROK) is integrated into the ALTAY MBT, Demir said that the first test results were good.

Answering questions on a live broadcast on NTV, Professor Demir said: "Currently, we have integrated the power pack from Korea into the ALTAY Tank prototype. Tests continue on the prototype, and very good results have been achieved. We have also reached a point in serial production with ROK. This is the first time that this power pack has been integrated into a tank. Korea does not use this power pack on the tank because they still use the German transmission. ALTAY MBT can start mass production with this power pack in two years. As the transmission will be used for the first time, its tests may take more time.”
