US Navy awarded a $153 million contract to Northrop Grumman to deliver AARGM
AARGM is a cutting-edge device designed to protect pilots against current surface-to-air threats. According to the business, the system can tackle land- and sea-based air-defence threats and striking, time-sensitive targets with a mix of precision, survivability, and lethality.
The current deal calls for the defence industry to manufacture the AARGM for the US Navy and the German Air Force.
Northrop Grumman has developed over 1,500 AARGM missiles for the international cooperative acquisition program with the US Navy and the Italian Air Force. According to the manufacturer, the missiles provide a supersonic, air-launched tactical missile system that enhances legacy AGM-88 HARM systems with increased capabilities to supdefencend destroy opponent air defence systems.
