According to “Breaking Defense”, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has cancelled the 12-helicopter order for financial and technical reasons.

The UAE placed the order in December 2021 alongside a contract for 80 Rafale fighter jets.

Developed by Airbus from the Puma, and Cougar families, the H225M is used in offshore and search and rescue missions. The helicopter has a maximum speed of 175 knots (324 km/h), a maximum take-off weight of 11,200 kg and a range of over 400 nautical miles. The H225M can carry over 20 personnel, including 11 on stretchers. Externally, the weight limit of the H225M is 4 thousand 750 kg.

The H225M has an electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) sensor, a search/rescue system, weather radar, integrated electronic warfare (E/W) package and a satellite communication (SATCOM) system. The helicopter also has radar warning receivers, a missile warning system and laser warning receivers supplied by Elbit Systems.

In addition, H225Ms can be equipped with 12.7mm and 20mm or 68mm gun pods and 7.62mm machine guns for point defence.
