U.S. Retalites Iran-backed Militias
The U.S. launched strikes against Iran-backed militias in Syria and Iraq in response to drone attacks.

U.S. Defence officials confirmed that between 8 and 12 sites in eastern Syria and Iraq used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Iranian-backed groups were struck by the U.S. Air Force in the past hour. The drone attacks caused the death of three service members.

The attack was not a surprise since CBS News reported on Thursday that the White House had approved the targeting of Iranian personnel and infrastructure within the two nations in reaction to the drone attack on Sunday at the Tower 22 base near Syria's border with Jordan.
