The United Kingdom aims to cooperate with Türkiye in the submarine field, according to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s statement. Pointing out that Turkiye builds naval systems for foreign countries, President Erdoğan said the UK wants to cooperate for a submarine. 

Turkiye builds German U-214 submarines as REIS class or Type 214TN under licence. The design activities for the National Submarine (MİLDEN) continue. Turkiye does not need any further submarines except for special operation units for the new future.

STM works on such submarines with the model submarine STM 500. There are, however, unmanned submarine system studies. Turkiye and UK might cooperate on that subject.
