Russia's 23rd Fighter Aviation Regiment has been selected as the first primary forward unit to receive the Su-57 fighter jets. The pilots of the elite regiment are undergoing theoretical training. The training took place at Lipetsk's 4th State Military Evaluation and Air Personnel Preparation Centre.
The 23rd Fighter Aviation Regiment has held the title of an
elite unit of the Russian Air Force for decades. It was also this unit that, in
1985, received the first Su-27 Flanker unit, the predecessor to the Su-57. This aircraft has been deployed in special military
operations in Ukraine.
