Defence Minister Prabowo Subianto confirmed that Indonesia is determined to buy Rafale, Mirage 2000 and F-15EX fighter jets.

Speaking at the Board of Trustees for Retired Indonesian Warriors (PPIR) at the PPIR Grand Reunion, the defence minister said that the Defence Ministry had received the largest defence budget in the history of Indonesia. Prabowo then mentioned several defence types of equipment that had received improvements and various acquisitions of defence equipment. "This year alone, we are refurbishing 41 warships; this has never happened in Indonesian history," he said. Prabowo added that at the end of this year, a parade of 60 warships will be ready for operation. Meanwhile, Prabowo said that Indonesia had purchased several advanced and intermediate fighter aircraft to strengthen the Indonesian Air Force. "We have signed a contract to acquire the most advanced combat aircraft, the Rafale. We will also acquire Mirage 2000 aircraft. Then we also hope that soon, we will be able to complete the acquisition contract for F-15s for our air force," Prabowo said. Indonesia has signed a contract to procure six Rafales from France and has prepared a budget for adding 18 units of the second batch of Rafales and the third batch with 42 aircraft. Indonesia has received approval from the US Congress to acquire 36 units of F-15EX. Indonesia plans to use Mirage 2000 aircraft for training purposes.
