Meteksan Combines Retinar Radar with Augmented Reality
The Retinar Perimeter Surveillance Radar identifies moving targets at the border and key facilities to offer security and alert the operator. Soldiers in the field will be able to access target information collected by radar using Retinar AR through their mobile phone, tablet PC, or smart glasses. The soldiers, who will communicate remotely with the Retinar Perimeter Surveillance Radar, will see every moving object around them by holding their mobile phone camera to the field and even access detailed information about the target with smart glasses, providing situational awareness in a high-level field environment.
"As Meteksan Defence, we assumed a significant duty and created Retinar Perimeter Surveillance Radars totally with our own resources," stated Selcuk Alparslan, General Manager. Today, we take great pleasure in the effective employment of these radar systems along the border, on military sites, and in foreign countries. As a forward-thinking defence sector firm, we place a high value on adopting emerging technology to our systems. We integrated Augmented Reality technology with Retinar Perimeter Surveillance Radars in this context, allowing us to send instantaneous position information of radar targets to the hands of our soldiers in the field and operate without the need for a piece of new equipment. Thus, when a soldier points his mobile phone's camera to the surrounding terrain, we will be able to see the targets found by the Retinar radars located in a different location on the mobile phone, or when our soldiers start using smart glasses in the future, we will be able to show radar information on these glasses. This is a first-of-its-kind application in the globe, and I am delighted that Turkish engineers created it in conjunction with two major defence sector firms."
