Kuwait to Investigate Caracal and Eurofighter Deals
On Wednesday, the Kuwait National Assembly agreed to form a parliamentary investigation committee to investigate allegations of corruption in two multibillion-dollar defence deals. The committee will look into allegations surrounding an $8 billion deal to buy around 30 Eurofighter warplanes and a $1 billion contract to buy 30 Caracal military helicopters from Airbus Industries.

The two agreements were signed several years ago, but many MPs have accused them of graft and technical flaws. The court is also investigating allegations of corruption in connection with the Eurofighter deal. The majority of the helicopters have already been delivered to Kuwait.

The Assembly also established fact-finding committees to investigate alleged violations in industrial plot distribution. The committee will review the Caracal helicopter and Eurofighter fighter jet contracts.
