Joint Production Ammunition for Ukraine
French Minister of Defence Sébastien Lecornu and his Australian counterpart, Richard Marles, made a joint declaration for artillery ammunition. French manufacturer Nexter is going to produce 155 mm rounds. Australia will provide propellant under the agreement. Ministers did not give the exact number of the shells to be supplied but said “several thousand” for volume.Katana guided artillery shells will also be provided to the defenders. Ukrainian Defence Minister published that the daily artillery ammunition consumption in Ukraine is around the Second World War level. Western artillery pieces are providing a critical advantage to the Ukrainian defenders, especially for counter-battery fire, thanks to their longer effective range than Russian weapons and precision strike capability. Ukraine conducted many successful operations with guided artillery shell to destroy or suppressing Russian batteries in the field as well.
