Italy Set to Buy M142 HIMARS for $400 Million
Italy is set to strengthen its military capabilities with a planned acquisition of HIMARS in a Foreign Military Sale (FMS) deal estimated at $400 million. The U.S. Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has notified Congress of this proposed sale.
Italy's request includes 21 M142 HIMARS and one M31A2 Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System Unitary (GMLRS-U) High Explosive Pods featuring Insensitive Munitions Propulsion System (IMPS). The aim is to bolster Italy's rocket artillery capabilities for strategic and tactical operations.
