DSCA announced that the U.S. will sell 120mm M830A1 High Explosive MPAT tank cartridges for an estimated cost of $106.5 million.

The announcement was made on the Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) website, but the decision did not belong to the Department but to the Secretary of State.

The announcement underlined that “The Secretary of State has approved a possible Foreign Military Sale to Israel of 120mm M830A1 High Explosive Anti-Tank Multi-Purpose with Tracer (MPAT) tank cartridges and related equipment for an estimated cost of $106.5 million.”

The DSCA delivered the required certification, notifying Congress of this possible sale on December 8, 2023.

Israel has requested to buy 13,981 120mm M830A1 High Explosive Anti-Tank Multi-Purpose with Tracer (MPAT) tank cartridges. The estimated total cost is $106.5 million.

DSCA stated that “The Secretary of State determined and provided detailed justification to Congress that an emergency exists that requires the immediate sale to the Government of Israel of the above defence articles and services in the national security interests of the United States, thereby waiving the Congressional review requirements under Section 36(b) of the Arms Export Control Act, as amended.”
