Israel Signs Defence Agreement with Gulf Country Bahrain

As tensions rose in the Middle East, Israel and Bahrain inked a security cooperation deal in Manama, the first such arrangement between Israeli and a Gulf nation. Israeli Defence, Benny Gantz met with Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with his counterpart.

On the second day of the visit, the first-ever by Israeli Minister Gantz, signed an MoU with Bahrain’s Defence ministerAbdullah Bin Hassan Al Nuaimito formalise security ties between the countries.

The MoU will promote intelligence cooperation, institutionalise training and formalise cooperation between the defence industries.

The Israeli Defence Ministry quoted defence minister Benny Gantz as saying, “Only one year following the signing of the (Abraham) Accords, we have achieved an important defence agreement which will contribute to the security of both countries and the stability of the region.”
