TurDef has previously stated that the date could be reset for the same place but on July 25-28, 2023. Foreign delegations are informed about the probable delay. The delay has yet to be officially announced. The reason is also unknown. The most argued reason for it was the probable Presidential and general elections that would be held on May 14th. The elections are supposed to be held by June 18th, 2023, as a Constitutional regulation. Some politicians in Turkiye claim that the elections must be postponed, as 11 cities were devastated by the earthquake, to provide order at elections.
The rescheduling of IDEF has been at stake since the February 6th earthquakes that hit 11 cities with a death toll of over 40 thousand people.
The multi-unknown equation waits for decisions to be declared. The election date must be set first, and the IDEF’s date will be set in coordination. TurDef has learned that IDEF might be held on 9-12 May as officially declared. It can also be held on July 25-28, 2023, as the industry is unofficially informed, or it can be held at another date. The alternative date is not known yet.
