Germany Goes for 8.5 Billion USD Acquisition with Chinook

The State Department approved a possible Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to Germany of CH-47F Chinook Helicopters and related equipment for an estimated cost of $8.5 billion. The Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today.
Germany has requested to buy 60 CH-47F Block II Cargo Helicopters with customer-unique modifications, 140 T-55-GA-714A engines (120 installed, 20 spares). The entire cost is anticipated to be $8.5 billion.
The proposed transaction will help Germany boost its heavy lift capability. Germany plans to fortify its homeland defences. Boeing Helicopter Company will be the primary contractor. No known offset arrangements have been suggested in connection with this potential sale.
