France announced yesterday a press release stating that the new government is not recognised as the people of Niger do not elect it and that all kind of aid to Niger is on hold.  

According to France-based publication Neo Actu, the doors of the French Embassy in the capital of Niger, Niamey, are set on fire. The embassy defended itself against attacks by using tear gas against the demonstrators.
France and Niger have a long-shared history, based on the French colonial empire’s more than sixty-year rule of Niger between 1898 – 1960 until Niger gained independence.
