Erciyes Modernisation Programme Continues, 11th Hercule Delivered

Within the scope of the Erciyes Project carried out by the Defence Industry Agency (SSB), the eleventh C-130 aircraft was modernised and delivered to the Air Force Command (TurAF). The avionics modernisation of 19 C-130 aircraft is carried out within the framework of the project undertaken by Turkish Aerospace and TurAF. At the same time, the fully analogue cockpit is converted to digital, and the aircraft switches to the fly-by-wire system.

SSB and Turkish Aerospace signed the contract in Dec. 2006 to modernise the avionic system of 13 C-130E and six C-130B aircraft. The aircraft complies with GATM, RVSM and CAT-II ILS requirements. The new avionic system is fully NVIS capable and has a glass cockpit with four MFDs, two CDUs and two Multi-Mission Computers.

Within the scope of the Erciyes Avionics Modernisation Programme, Turkish Aerospace performs design, integration test and cheque-out of the system for two prototypes, instal four serial aircraft and delivers the kits for the modification of the remaining 13 aircraft. Installation of these 13 aircraft is carried out at TurAF 2nd Air Supply and Maintenance Centre. Turkish Aerospace makes after-delivery support for the whole system.
