President of Defence Industry Agency Haluk Görgün witnessed the signing ceremony between DEARSAN Chairman of the Board of Directors Aziz Yıldırım and Commander of Qatari Naval Forces Major General Abdullah bin Hassan Al Sulaiti.
The 50-meter-long FACs will perform asymmetric warfare, patrol, protection of regional waters, fight against maritime piracy, reconnaissance and surveillance, search and rescue, disaster relief operations, border control, and base and port security missions. The FACs will be equipped with three water jets. They will also carry various weapon systems for surface warfare and air defence warfare.
DEARSAN’s ship will include ASELSAN’s sensors, weapons, and Roketsan missile systems. Italian Leonardo’s 40-millimetre cannon will serve as the main gun, and Roketsan’s ÇAKIR and SUNGUR missiles will be installed. ASELSAN’s 3D search radar MAR-D and Ahtapot EO reconnaissance surveillance and targeting system will be used.
The ship’s maximum speed is aimed at more than 36 knots. The targetted range is nautical miles at cruise speed.
The first sheet metal cutting is planned to be done after eight months. The first ship will be delivered in the 39th month and the second in the 42nd month.
