The Summit is organised for the third time under the auspices of the Ministry of Interior; with the support of the Ministry of National Defence and the Presidency of Defence Industries, the third international Summit will be held Hacettepe Beytepe Congress Centre on October 5-6, 2021.

The issues to be discussed within the scope of MRBS were introduced to the public by MUSIAD Ankara at the press conference held at the Grand Ankara Hotel & Convention Centre.

Border security, migrant crisis, regional opportunities to be discussed in Ankara

Ankara is the regional centre in the defence industry

Stating that they are preparing to host a very important event on behalf of the Turkish defence industry, MUSIAD Ankara President Hasan Fehmi Yılmaz drew attention to the potential of the capital to become a regional centre and said:

“We fully support the projects that will make our capital, which represents 80 per cent of the Turkish defence industry, a regional centre. With the breakthroughs made in recent years, the number of projects carried out in the defence industry and the volume of business have increased considerably. The increase in local production rate from 25 per cent to 75 per cent makes us all proud. Our new goal is to increase the rate to 100 per cent, especially in critical areas related to national security. As MUSIAD, we will continue to support the development and export of our defence industry.”

The migrant crisis and border security have priority

Stating that issues such as irregular migration, border security, and the fight against terrorism will be the priority topics at the conference, Yılmaz said, “Stakeholders operating in the defence industry develop products and solutions for various scenarios. Border security and related threats are also among these scenarios. There are endless hot conflicts in many parts of the world, including the regions in our close geography. Tens of millions of people around the world fleeing conflict struggle to survive far from their homes. Therefore, we cannot consider border security on land, at sea and in the air as a military issue only in today’s world. When we look at it with a holistic approach, we can see that very serious social, economic, and legal issues need to be dealt with. At the Summit we organised, we want to introduce our guests to the border security solutions we produce with domestic and national technologies and to discuss the issue in all its aspects,” he said.

Visitors from 22 countries will attend

MRBS, hosted by MUSIAD Ankara, has grown four times in three years and turned into a big event that brings together main contractors and subcontractors, industrialists, SMEs, universities, public institutions and international delegations operating in the field of the defence industry.

This year, nearly 100 companies, including the leading companies of the defence industry, are expected to attend the Summit, which brings together domestic manufacturers with procurement committees and military attachés. Some new projects will be introduced in the two-day event, where approximately 1,200 visitors will be hosted, and all measures will be taken against the covid-19 epidemic.

Visitors from 22 countries, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burundi, Congo, Denmark, Jordan, Indonesia, Palestine, France, Sri Lanka, South Sudan, Spain, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Pakistan, Serbia, TRNC, Ukraine, USA, will participate in MRBS.
