UAE-based EDGE Group announced that its "DESERT STING 16" precision-guided munition is integrated into Baykar’s TB2 UAV.

The group announced that the DESERT STING 16 precision-guided munition is integrated into the TB2 UAV. The integration programme is part of a Strategic Alliance Agreement between the two companies to work together on advanced technology solutions for the defence sector. Under the programme, EDGE will integrate their DESERT STING 16 precision-guided munition onto the Baykar TB2 UAV, with other payload integrations on other BAYKAR platforms. The EDGE groups have not mentioned the name.

DESERT STING 16 utilises inertial guidance augmented by a global navigation satellite system (GNSS). A semi-active laser (SAL) seeker configuration further improves accuracy performance against designated targets. The ammunition has a 15 km maximum range if released from 30 thousand feet altitude with 3m CEP. Baykar’s TB2 was just seen yesterday on Pakistan Air Force with the indigenous BARQ laser-guided air-to-surface missile, which marks the first time a rocket-powered munition was on board.
