Ukraine wants more cooperation on Milgem

The first Turkish Ada Class corvette for the Ukrainian Navy will be built according to the 50:50 formula. The ship will be tested in 2023.

According to the initial plan, the first ship would be built entirely in Turkey. Ukraine has laster decided to equip it with domestic facilities. Defense Express learned about this from its sources in the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

Ada corvettes are anti-submarine corvettes and are equipped with RCC, SAM RIM-116 and 76-mm artillery. It can carry Harpoon or Atmaca anti-ship missile. It carries 324 mm (13 in) Mk.32 twin launchers for Mk.46 torpedoes. It has a hangar and landing platform for ten-ton class helicopter-like S-70B Seahawk ASW helicopters and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV)

According to the agreement, the ship will be built in a Turkish Shipyard in Turkey. It will be transported to the Ukrainian shipyard to complete the work with the participation of Turkish specialists. Turkish experts have already inspected Ukraine’s shipbuilding facilities and confirmed the technical side of such a scenario.

As it became known, the first corvette should go to state production at the level of 2023. In the future, all other corvettes will be built exclusively on Ukrainian facilities and with more domestic components and units. For example, if the first ship has a foreign power plant, then all the others have turbines from Zorya-Mashproekt. And state tests of corvettes will be conducted in broad cooperation with the Turkish side.
