TB2 Agreement signed with Poland

Baykar Makina’s Bayraktar TB2 will be exported to UCAV Poland. The export agreement was signed in the presense of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Polish President Andrzej Sebastian Duda between Baykar General Manager Haluk Bayraktar and Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak.

Bayraktar TB2 UCAV will fly in the skies of Poland after Qatar and Azerbaijan. Thus, for the first time, Turkiye will have exported UCAV to a NATO alliance member country.

Within the agreement, 24 UCAV and four systems will be exported to Poland. Each system includes six UCAV, one ground control station and ground data terminal. ROKETSAN’s MAM-C and MAM-L smart munition will also be exported to Poland. In this way, ROKETSAN will export smart munitions to a NATO country for the first time too.

Bayraktar TB2 SİHAs entered the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) inventory in 2014 for reconnaissance missions. UAVs were armed in 2015. The TAF uses the platform as well as the Gendarmerie General Command, the General Directorate of Security and the Turkish Intelligence. A total of 180 Bayraktar TB2 UCAV operate in Turkiye, Ukraine, Qatar and Azerbaijan.

Last year, Baykar got most of its revenues from export markets. The company made its first export in 2012 reached 360 million dollars export volume in 2020. Negotiations continue with many countries.

Bayraktar TB2 UCAV flew uninterrupted for 27 hours and 3 minutes in rough conditions such as high temperature and sandstorm during its demonstration flight in Kuwait on 16 July 2019. TB2 broke the Turkish record with an altitude of 27 300 feet in its class.

Bayraktar TB2 took part in the TAF’s domestic and cross-border operations in Hendek, Euphrates Shield and Olive Branch. ,

TB2s are also involved in the protection of Blue Homeland. In this context, TB2s provided security of Fatih and Yavuz drilling ships working in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Bayraktar TB2 UCAV also played an important role in ending the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict for nearly 30 years. Azerbaijan launched a military operation against Nagorno-Karabakh, which is under Armenian occupation, on 27 September 2020. On 10 November 2020, 44 days after the beginning of the operation, the Azerbaijani Army took control of Nagorno-Karabakh. During the operation against Armenia, the Azerbaijani Army used TB2 UCAV on the front line. Many air defence systems, radar systems, tanks, armoured vehicles, trucks, arsenals, and units belonging to the Armenian Army were destroyed with Bayraktar TB2 SİHAs.

Approximately 40 separate computer systems function in Bayraktar TB2. Bayraktar TB2 UCAV has a fully autonomous taxi, take-off, cruise flight and landing capability with its triple redundant avionic systems and sensor fusion architecture. It carries four MAM-L and MAM-C ammunition. Thanks to this laser-guided ammunition, targets are neutralized with high precision.
