SSİK is the First Official Meeting of 2024
The first official meeting of 2024 will be the Defence Industry Executive Committee (SSİK). President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will chair today’s meeting.

The following term period targets of the Turkish defence industry are discussed at SSIK, and this meeting will be the first official meeting held in 2024. SSİK, chaired by President Erdoğan, will take place at the Presidential Palace today at 14:00.

This meeting was expected to take place in November 2023; however, it did not take place in 2023. President Erdoğan started the new year with this official meeting to solve this situation.

This meeting will also be new to many because a significant part of the participants will come together for the first time for this meeting.

Last year, the Minister of Defence was Hulusi Akar. Yaşar Güler was the chief of General Staff. Professor İsmail Demir was the President of the Defence Industry Agency (SSB). This year, Akar is replaced by Güler. General Metin Gürak is the new chief of General Staff. Professor Haluk Görgün, former President and General Manager of ASELSAN, replaced Demir. SSB has five Vice Presidents.

On the other hand, most of the members have not met at SSİK. Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek, Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, and Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır have been in the position since the last election.

Regarding SSB Participation, Vice President of SSB Celal Sami Tüfekçi is now the deputy minister at the Defence Ministry. Former SSB Vice Presidents are replaced except Mustafa Murat Şeker. The new vice presidents are Professor Hakan Karataş, Gökhan Uçar, Professor İhsan Kaya and Hüseyin Avşar.

Regarding forces, the commander of the Army, General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu and Air Force Commander General Ziya Cemal Kadıoğlu will also attend SSİK for the first time. Navy Commander Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu was present at the SSİK held on December 29, 2002.
