35 years after its predecessor HSwMS Orion. HSwMS Artemis was launched and handed over to the Swedish Defence Materials Administration, stated a Saab press release on 28 April 2023. Artemis will be equipped with signal intelligence equipment under the supervision of the National Defence Radio Establishment (FRA).
The ship is also equipped with sensors for naval intelligence.
HSwMS Artemis will replace the ship in a similar role, namely the ageing HSwMS Orion.
