New UAV Deliveries to the Turkish Armed Forces

Two Turkish aerospace companies Turkish Aerospace and Baykar delivered four UAVs to the Turkish Armed Forces in the last two days. Baykar delivered three AKINCI-B Armed UAVs to the Turkish Air Force. Turkish Aerospace on the other hand delivered one AKSUNGUR Armed UAV to the Turkish Naval Forces Command. With the new deliveries, the Turkish Air Force has nine Akıncı and the Turkish Navy has two Aksungur in the inventory.

Regarding Aksungur, it is the largest twin-engine drone made by TUSAS, which also produces the single-engine ANKA UAV family.

The aircraft has a length of 12 m, a wingspan of 24 m and a height of 3 m. At the same time, the Anka-S has a length of 8.6 m, a wingspan of 17.5 m, and a height of 3.25 m.

The UAV, with a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of 3,300 kg, is powered by two PD-170 dual turbo diesel engines developed by Tusaş Engine Industries (TEI), equipped with three-blade propellers.

It has a maximum speed of 180 km/h and carries a maximum payload of 750 kg to an altitude of 7,600 m or up to an altitude of 11,000 m with a lighter payload of 150 kg.

Aksungur is lined up to carry out long-range surveillance missions, signal intelligence, maritime patrols, or as an unmanned combat aerial vehicle.

Aksungur can carry a variety of weaponry, including the Teber 81 and 82 guided bombs, MAM-L and MAM-C smart ammunition, and the L-UMTAS laser-guided missile.

The Aksungur UAV will be stationed at the Dalaman Turkish Naval Air Base in Muğla.
