Speaking to CNN Turk television, President of Defence Industry Agency (SSB) Professor İsmail Demir answered a question about the future of the TF-2000 Air Defence Destroyer. Demir stated that the fifth vessel of the MİLGEM Project İstif class frigate would be equipped with the nationally developed Vertical Launching System (VLS) MİDLAS. Demir underlined that such capacity would provide the required air defence.

 It is known that MİDLAS will be able to launch strike missiles. If the project evolves to such solutions, the protection of TCG Anadolu L400 will depend on İstif Class frigates.
