The Shipyard presented the progress on constructing the first Navy FDI frigate of the Hellenic Navy (Polemikó Naftikó/ PN), which will be named FFG Kimon. The vessels will also be known as the Kimon class. The remaining two frigates will be named FFG Nearchos and FFG Formation. Kimon (c. 510 – 450 BC) was an Athenian strategist (the term is used in Greek to address general and admiral) and politician. He is known for fighting in the naval Battle of Salamis (480 BC) against the Second Persian invasion of Greece.
