First Ignition for the Lunar Mission
The Delta V company developed the engine. The Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank pressed the ignition button for the test.
The Presidency of Defence Industries’ company Delta V is working on an indigenous hybrid rocket engine.
Minister Varank examined the facility in Istanbul Şile and watched the test of two engines. Minister Varank received information about the hybrid rocket engine ignition systems, high-pressure composite tanks, valves, and regulators that will be used at Turkey’s Lunar Mission.
Two ignitions took place during the visit. In the framework of sending a probe to the moon in 2023, the company ignited a 635 mm probe rocket engine.
The hybrid engine, which could be used in the lunar mission, was ignited for the first time. The engine was intended to run for 50 seconds. The planned time has been reached. The first trial of the engine to be used in the lunar mission has been completed.
