EU to Fund up to €80 million for Greek Ammunition

According to the Greek daily Ekathimerini, the European defence industry plans to fund Hellenic Defence Systems (EAS) for €60-80 million from the European Defence Fund to increase the production of 155mm projectiles. This move is a result of the war in Ukraine. It is claimed that the decision was taken during EU Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton’s visit to Greece. The delegation has also visited the facilities of EAS in Ymittos and Lavrio. A presentation on the company’s production capabilities in manufacturing 155mm projectiles was presented in particular. The complex is active in the priming and assembly of medium and large-calibre ammunition, anti-tank and missile warheads, and the production of propellant powders and launchers. The facility is certified by NATO as a Missile Assembly/Disassembly Facility.”
