Derya will resupply at least four ships with supplies (food, water, medical supplies, fuel, ammunition, etc.) without shore support. It will also support the maintenance and repair of manned and unmanned surface and underwater vehicles, helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles at a certain level. The ship will also serve as a Command and Control Ship. It will support humanitarian aid, fight against piracy, natural disaster relief, search and rescue, and evacuation of non-combatants within the scope of Non-Combatant Operations.
When the project was started, it was envisaged that the ship would have a length of 194.8 meters and a displacement of 22.000 tons. It was understood from the press announcement following Demir's visit that the size and tonnage of the ship had increased. The new features of the boat are as follows;
Full length 199.9 meters
Maximum width 24.4 meters
Displacement 26,000 tons
Speed 24 knots
