COTECMAR and Damen signed a contract for the design of PES in collaboration

Colombian maritime organisation COTECMAR and Dutch Damen Shipyard signed a contract on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, to co-develop the Contractual Design for the Colombian Navy's next generation of frigates. The design for the Plataforma Estratégica de Superficie (PES) programme is based on the proven design of the SIGMA 10514, which has been successfully built in other non-Damen shipyards.

The signing ceremony took place aboard the ARC Almirante Padilla at the ARC Bolivar Naval Base in Cartagena, Colombia. Throughout the contract, the partnership will update the design to meet the end user's requirements, the Colombian Navy.

The desire to further develop Colombia's established maritime industry aligns with Damen's collaboration strategy with local shipyards such as COTECMAR.
