Boeing Reveals First of New Innovative Defence Factories
Boeing’s Defence, Space & Security (BDS) business unit unveiled on Sept. 12 its new Advanced Composite Fabrication Centre, which has been purpose-built to produce advanced composite components for future combat aircraft, the company said in a release. The Advanced Composite Fabrication Centre will function at Boeing Phantom Works to have components for future advanced combat aircraft.

BDS’ Phantom Works research, development, and prototyping division will operate a secure production facility in Mesa, Arizona. The 155,000-square-foot facility’s construction phase is now complete, and the centre is expected to be fully operational this autumn.

Ted Colbert, Defence, Space & Security president and CEO, said, “The new Advanced Composite Fabrication Centre and the factories that will follow it position Boeing to deliver the most digitally advanced, simply and efficiently produced and intelligently supported aircraft to military customers.”
