ASELSAN First of the New Electro-Optical Systems

ASELFLIR-410 is a militarized version of the ASELFLIR-400 electro-optical system with a laser designator to guide missiles like CİRİT and UMTAS. ASELFLIR-400/410 family of electro-optics are primarily intended for helicopter platforms but can be integrated on land platforms upon need.

The new electro-optical system’s performance parameters are listed as:

  • MWIR Camera Resolution: 1024x768 px
  • SWIR Camera Resolution: 640x512 px
  • Day Camera Resolution: 1920x1080 px
  • Laser Rangefinder Range: 30 km
  • Laser Designator Range: 30 km

ASELFLIR-410 will be mainly used by T129 ATAK and ROKETSAN’s KMC-U weapon system. After the agreement for the integration on KMC-U, T129 was also observed with the system in 2024.

ASELFLIR-500 is a successor to the CATS system, often used on Bayraktar TB2 UCAV in place of Canadian MX-15D, which was embargoed following the 2020 Nagorno Karabakh War (Canada later lifted the embargo this year).

The most significant improvements ASELFLIR-500 offers over CATS include 4096x2880 HD Day Camera, 1280x720 HD IR and SWIR cameras, increased laser designation range of 35 km, and reduced weight. ASELFLIR-500 is primarily intended for Tactical to MALE segment UAVs like Bayraktar TB2 and ANKA.

ASELFLIR-500 was integrated on Bayraktar TB2 armed UAV and AKINCI UCAV. AKINCI managed to hit a fast-moving sea target during tests with guidance provided by ASELFLIR-500.

ASELSAN is also developing other types of Electro-Optical systems. Some include the larger ASELFLIR-600 intended for AKINCI and AKSUNGUR UCAVs, TOYGUN EOTS for KAAN fighter jets, and Bayraktar KIZILELMA unmanned combat aircraft.
