Bulgaria and Germany signed a contract to build the two corvettes in March 2020 at an estimated $ 463m. Construction work began almost two years after the contract was signed. However, the exact armament of the two ships had not been determined at this point. The corvettes will be 90 metres long with a displacement of 2,300 tonnes. They will be delivered to the Bulgarian Navy between 2025 and 2026.

The German organisation intends to equip the two corvettes with the 76 mm OTO Melara cannon and the 27 mm Mauser MLG27fully automatic cannonStation. In terms of missile equipment, they are considering installing the RIM-116 RAM system in an anti-aircraft and anti-missile role with a range of 10 km and the anti-ship RBS 15 with a range of up to 185 km.
