In the last nine months, Turkiye and the United Kingdom have elaborated and deepened their defence relations. The British Government has lifted sanctions applied to Turkiye, and there is potentially a new chapter for the cooperation. In 2017 British defence giant BAE Systems started to work in support to the Turkish Indigenous Fifth Generation fighter Jet project “TF-X”, providing embedded technical support across many engineering disciplines. TurDef met with BAE Systems senior management responsible for the TF-X project in Türkiye to understand the role of BAE Systems in TF-X and their expectations around possible future cooperation. The interview is conducted with Alistair Castle, General Manager, Türkiye and Neil Strang, Tempest Delivery Director.
