PNS Babur (F 280) corvette got her Underwater Device Systems and Main Propulsion Systems. Installation efforts are completed in the dry dock facility of İstanbul Shipyard Command. Thus, an important milestone has been achieved in PN MilGem Project.
PN MilGem is one of the most significant export successes in the single contract of the Turkish Defence Industry. Pakistan is investing to reinforce its surface fleet force. Pakistan Navy has been carrying out various shipbuilding projects for a while to break the naval balances that have changed in favour of India. In this context, ship procurement projects are carried out with China. Islamabad is also increasing its cooperation with Turkey in the maritime field. Pakistan is trying to counterbalance the power equation in the region with increasing asymmetry. In this line, Air-Independent Propulsion submarines will provide critical long-range high-endurance patrol capabilities in blue waters.
