Ukraine's defence ministry announced on Tuesday that it had shot down an Iranian-made Shahed-136 drone used by Russia's armed forces in Kharkiv's north-eastern region, marking the first time Kyiv claimed to have destroyed one of the devices. Ukraine and the US have accused Iran of supplying drones to Russia, which Tehran denies.

Ukrainian Defence Ministry released an image on September 13, 2022, of a portion of an unmanned aerial vehicle with the Russian word "Geran-2" written on the side, which was described as an Iranian-made suicide drone Shahed-136 as the wingtip appeared to be from a Shahed-136.

It is said that was shot down near the town of Kupiansk during Russia's attack on Ukraine.

The drone, or unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), was said to have been "eliminated" near Kupiansk, a town in Ukraine's Kharkiv region that was recently recaptured.

Russians could use Iranian drones for reconnaissance as well as loitering munitions.
