During the overhaul
and modernisation commissioned by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the
company’s specialists equipped the tank with new third-generation surveillance
and targeting devices, anti-accumulation stern grille screens and rubber shields
on the tower. In addition, the fuel system of the combat vehicle was improved,
and additional armoured protection of fuel tanks was installed.
This combat vehicle is
designed to strengthen mechanised units in all types of all-out combat, breakthrough
fortified positions, destroy firing points, equipment and manpower of the
enemy, rapid organisation of defensive lines.
The director of Kharkiv Armoured Plant, Herman Smetanin said, “T-64BV model 2022 received new modern radio stations to replace the old Soviet ones. From now on, this combat vehicle has, in particular, navigation, internal and external communication systems that fully meet NATO standards.”
The tanks are equipped with the latest communication systems, fire control, day and night vision reversing camera, smoke grenade systems and reactive armoured protection against bullets. Since the beginning of 2021, the Ukrainian State enterprise has modernised more than 10 T-64 and T-72 tanks.
It is also reported
that new digital radio stations supplied from ASELSAN have been integrated into
the modernised main battle tanks. The communication solutions offered by
ASELSAN are designed to provide communication between the armoured units and
infantry units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Ukrainian Armed Forces call
this modification of armoured units “network-centric”.
