Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and British 2Excel Aviation have conducted a demonstration of IAI's Maritime HERON UAS in a variety of scenarios, including life, beyond visual line of sight maritime search, and ISR. West Wales Airport in Aberporth, Wales, served as the base for the demonstration.
UK Ministry of Defence, the UK Government and the civilian sector representatives attended the demonstration in person, and virtually. According to IAI, the HERON UAS was ready to fly 36 hours after arriving in West Wales and remained fully operational throughout the deployment.
Despite challenging seasonal weather circumstances, it achieved 100% of its planned objectives. During the presentation, in-person attendees may make requests to the system, communicated live to the Ground Control Station (GCS). IAI's STARLIGHT data exploitation tool, which received input from the HERON UAS's multi-mission radar, EO/IR sensor, and AIS, was also used to showcase rule-based scenarios.
